AI & Community Health

To understand the connections between AI and Community Health we can't abstract community health to a system, or a context. Community Health is supported by a constellation of people who are involved in a specific form of labor: One that has been historically devalued and ignored. We now recognize them through professional labels such as doulas, home visitors, and health navigators, but they have always been mothers, grandmothers, neighbors, friends, all of us who have sustained communities through acts of care. In highly individualistic and techno-centric societies, these practices, rituals, and ways of caring are undervalued, and are now among the forms of labor most readily imagined as replaceable by technology.
